Emi Lovely : Stilt Walker
Emily McDougall, or "Emi Lovely", is an enthusiastic stilt performer, born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada. She has delighted audiences from above since June 2017 and enjoys it tremendously. She has performed as a busker in the Winnipeg Fringe Festival with the Winnipeg Circus Club many times over the years and always looks forward to participating in the Annual Circus Club Showcase, also with the Winnipeg Circus Club. In August of 2021 She appeared as a bison at the Manitoba 150 event at Shaw Park. She has also been a part of numerous groups creating dynamic choreographed shows including Dot Massif (2015), The Demand (2020-Present) and the Bring Your Love Festival of Music and Art fire show (2019-Present).
In 2018 Emily journeyed South to Arcosanti, Arizona to participate in the Stilasana workshop put on by the Carpetbag Brigade Physical Theatre Company. Later, in June of 2019 she returned to Arcosanti to participate in the two week long Global Stilt Congress, also with the Carpetbag Brigade, where participants learned new ways to move and relate to the environment and each other on and off stilts. The Congress concluded with a group performance of The Legislation: Citizen Ship, a piece that incorporated live music, spoken word, aerial and acrobatic stilting and much more. Following this experience Emily returned a third time to Arizona to perform as the Grass Bat in the All Souls Procession Finale performance in Tucson. Emily has now settled back into Winnipeg and is happy to call it home. She looks forward to sharing what she learned while away with the growing stilt community here.
