Marcus
Show Review by Jon Clark:
When I first saw Marcus bound up to the microphone, I knew that, at the very least, we were in for
something. What was in the large wooden trunk he plunked down on the stage? Was this another Carrot
Top wannabe? As a neophyte comedian myself, I was leery of the box for fear of too many props and
not enough punch lines. I fought off the urge to daydream about lightly crisp bacon and focused my full
attention on the stage.
Adjusting the mic stand, Marcus took a quick glance at the audience and without so much as a “How is
everyone doing tonight?”, he let the jokes fly. A rapid fire barrage of jokes about his relationship with
his wife, jokes about fast food, jokes about Smurfs and orphans. Well- written original twists and turns
that were, above all else, funny. As if the jokes weren’t enough, by this time I had almost forgotten
about the trunk, he went for the tricks.
There were juggling balls, clubs, musical interludes, and yo-yo tricks, with sight gags and stand-up
mingled throughout, culminating with a knife juggling/balancing act that left the crowd cringing,
laughing, and cheering all at once. There are variety acts and there are comedy acts, and few
performers can combine the two. Marcus Wilson is one of those few.
Over the past twenty years Marcus has performed for literally thousands of events, from private
functions and fairs, to theaters, casinos, and comedy clubs.
Thrills, chills, and spills are usually reserved for the motocross track, but Marcus Wilson has brought
them to the comedy stage. Delighting audiences with an act that is half stand-up, half one-man circus
(Death defiance included). This jocular juggler does it all, and leaves you laughing. Marcus Wilson is
an act everyone should see twice.
Actual Bio:
Marcus Wilson was born on April Fools day 1973, so it seems only fitting that he has a passion for
jokes. This passion kept him in trouble all through elementary and jr. high school. In ninth grade, he
enrolled in a drama class and discovered a place where acting out was encouraged and accepted. He
found that as long as he was on stage people seemed to enjoy his obnoxious antics. In high school,
while working at a restaurant, he learned to juggle with rolls and oranges and fell in love with useless
tricks and odd skills. At the age of 22, armed with a handful of these tricks and a desire to entertain, he
began doing shows. About five years later, he began performing in comedy clubs. Since then, he has
been making his living performing. Marcus lives in West Jordan, Utah. After giving his teachers such a
hard time, he ended up married to a teacher. He has been married since 1996 and has four kids.
